Sarah<h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Gould Lake</h2>Students in 8E2 and 8E3 enjoyed an exciting day canoeing at Gould Lake, even with the mixed weather! They showed great resilience and kept their spirits high throughout the trip. A highlight of the day was building campfires to cook lunch—bbq hot dogs and toasted marshmallows were a big hit. It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, teamwork, and lasting memories. From thrilling rides to shared laughter and sunshine, the trip was filled with excitement, connection, and school spirit. It was great to see our community come together outside the classroom to create such positive experiences and lasting memories for our students.We are deeply grateful to the parent volunteers and staff members whose time, energy, and enthusiasm helped make the day run so smoothly. The ceremony went smoothly and the staff were incredibly proud to see our students walk across the stage. Congratulations to Vaille Angel, our class valedictorian, on a wonderful speech. The grade 8s then enjoyed a sunset cruise on the Island Queen III and partied like it was 1999. Great times were had by students and staff alike. Over the coming months, Limestone staff will be reviewing and updating course outlines, assessment practices, and supporting resources to ensure alignment with the new provincial requirements.The Food Sharing Project UpdateDuring the 2025-2026 school year, The Food Sharing Project supported every LDSB school by providing nutritious food and resources to students each day. On average, more than 14,000 meals and snacks were served each week, over 530,000 throughout the year, with weekly food orders reaching approximately $17,500.We are grateful to the dedicated staff who make these programs possible, and to The Food Sharing Project for continuing to support student well-being across LDSB. This support is increasingly important as many families continue to face food insecurity. We did it! A very successful 2025-26 Acadie year complete. Staff have enjoyed watching students grow and evolve throughout the year. She has engaged the class in their learning, in particular in finanical literacy thanks to the Whitmarsh dollar program. The students gave a wonderful concert to their fans and supporters! They learned a little about their city during the scavenger hunt, applying their French skills with clue and to order the prize - a treat at White Mountain. Thank you to the chaperones who helped us travel safely and the whole Foster family for helping us get all our equipment to and from the venue. The students of 7E4 made their own Kingston-inspired version of a Dragouilles adventure by preparing real potatoes and filming them in front of a green screen.The class had a visit from the author of Les dragouilles series, Karine Gottot, who gave a fantastic presentation about her work and the background for the characters. The class got to premiere their Kingston movies which were well received. Mme Gottot has placed Module de l’Acadie on the front page of the series website! Board of Trustees Approves 2026–2027 School Year Budget

At its regular meeting on June 17, 2026, the Limestone District School Board of Trustees approved a $340.5 million budget for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a deficit budget balanced through the use of reserve funds.The approved budget complies with Ministry of Education requirements and includes:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">Operating expenditures of $316.8 million, representing a $73,000 decrease compared to the previous year.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Capital expenditures of $23.7 million, allocated to school condition improvements and renewal projects.</li></ul>The vast majority of the operating budget is directed to student instruction and relates directly to classroom support. The Honourable Paul Calandra, Minister of Education has shared a letter for students, parents and families: Dear Students, Parents and Families,To our amazing students: well done on finishing another school year! This is a good time to celebrate everything you have accomplished over the past several months. You worked hard, took on challenges, learned new things and continued to grow. You should be proud of all you have achieved this year.As you begin your summer break, take time to rest, explore your interests, and enjoy time with family and friends. However you choose to spend your summer, I hope you make the most of the months ahead.To the graduating Class of 2026, congratulations on reaching this important milestone. Graduation marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Whether your next step is college, university, an apprenticeship, the workforce or another pathway, I wish you every success in the years ahead.As families look ahead to September and the start of a new school year, there are a few things to keep in mind. Ontario schools will continue to focus on helping students build strong foundations in reading, writing and math while preparing them for success beyond the classroom. Students in elementary schools will learn from the same core materials and benefit from a revised Kindergarten curriculum focused on foundational literacy, math and science skills. In Grade 7 and 8, updated History courses will include new mandatory content on the history of Black Canadians.In high schools, students in Grade 10 History will have new learning about Black history, the Holocaust and Holodomor. Students will also be required to demonstrate financial literacy as part of earning their high school diploma. To help provide clearer expectations and a more comprehensive picture of student achievement, high school students will complete written final exams during a dedicated exam period, and attendance and classroom participation will form part of their final grade. The day will be divided into three sections; students will share an instrumental music performance for spectators, enjoy a scavenger hunt downtown, and “dîner au CENTRE-ville” (lunch out downtown). This is a wonderful opportunity to apply our French, History and Music learning to authentic activities.  We will be travelling to and from Acadie using Kingston Transit - a lesson on how to use the bus will be integrated in our travel.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Skittles/Pride Month</h2>Acadie’s very own Skittles Club is preparing to decorate our halls with some LGBTQIA2S+ representation and educational materials during June, Pride month. This will ensure that all students know what to expect and what their responsibilities will be on the afternoon of grad. Report cards will be handed out at the end of the grad rehearsal and we ask that you do not schedule any appointments until after this time. Parents picking up students early to prepare for grad are asked to inform the office ahead of time by email or phone call or to send a note with your student. Students with permission to sign out directly after graduation rehearsal will do so in the gym with a designated staff member (TBD).  Grad ceremony: Wednesday, June 24th 4:00-5:30 PM in the Frontenac Secondary School gymStudents will be required to arrive no later than 3:45 PM and will proceed to the designated area as directed in the grad rehearsal. Seating is first come, first served, and at this time we do not restrict families to a certain number of guests. No tickets are required. Please prepare to be in a HOT gym for the duration of the ceremony. The ceremony is typically over by 5:30, but that time can flex from year to year depending on the number of graduates we have.  Grad Cruise: Wednesday, June 24th  (7:30 PM arrival time) 8:00-10:00 PM (cruise) at Crawford's WharfOur grad cruise on the Island Queen will take place from 8:00-10:00 PM and departs from Crawford's Wharf at 1 Brock Street in downtown Kingston. Pride Month Recognition in Limestone

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) Education Centre, along with schools across the district, is recognizing Pride Month in the KFL&A region by flying the Progress Pride Flag for the remainder of the school year.The Government of Canada notes that the manner in which the Canadian flag is displayed is not governed by legislation. The guidelines provided are not mandatory for individuals or organizations but are intended to offer general direction.After consultation and clarification from Heritage Canada and communication with trustees, LDSB schools with only one flagpole will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag for the balance of this school year.  Limestone’s goal will be to increase the number of schools with more than one flagpole and/or the addition of yardarms to existing flagpoles to display more than the Canadian flag. Until this goal is achieved, we will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag at sites with only one flagpole.Displaying the Progress Pride Flag is a way for LDSB to show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This recognition does not diminish our respect for Canada’s national flag; rather, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that all students, staff, and families feel welcomed, valued, and respected in Limestone schools.Flying the Progress Pride Flag is one example of how LDSB demonstrates its inclusive culture. As a publicly funded school board, we have both a legal and moral responsibility to create learning environments where everyone can see themselves reflected and feel a sense of belonging.
