<h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is Seeking Expression of Interest</h2>The Limestone District School Board is seeking expressions of interest from <a href="about:blank" class="editor-link">individuals</a><a href="#_msocom_1" class="editor-link">[EL1]</a>  interested in joining the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) in support of the ongoing Student Census 2025 project.The purpose of the Technical Advisory Group is to provide advice, perspectives, and recommendations related to the design of data collection methods, analysis, and the representation of results for LDSB’s Student Census. TAG plays a critical role in ensuring that multiple and diverse perspectives are applied to the interpretation of data, helping to minimize bias and strengthen the relevance and integrity of findings.We are seeking expressions of interest for the committee for the September 2026 to August 2028 term.  We welcome expressions of interest from all members of the Limestone community, including those who can help us fill the following vacancies:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">One to two parents of a Limestone student(s) who is not an employee of the LDSB</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">A Limestone school administrator</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">One or more Limestone secondary students</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">One community partner member who works alongside LDSB</li></ul>Experience in data collection, analysis, and/or reporting of identity‑based data is encouraged; however, individuals with a broad range of research or analysis backgrounds and/or lived experiences are encouraged to apply. Any non-team members who are in attendance at the meet, and are not directly supervised by their own parent/guardian, will be reported as absent. The day will be divided into three sections; students will share an instrumental music performance for spectators, enjoy a scavenger hunt downtown, and “dîner au CENTRE-ville” (lunch out downtown). Students are also encouraged to attend the Kingston Pride Parade on June 13th at 11:30 am at the Kingston Memorial Centre (303 York Street) to march with LDSB!<h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Football </h2><img src="/images/e7d50134-0765-4a72-8bc5-c6e41983ae5b?fingerprint=ppb20260528184506" alt="IMG 0243" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block">Both of Acadie’s football teams delivered outstanding performances at the recent Calvin Cup tournament, showcasing strong effort, teamwork, and growth in every game. We are incredibly proud of the players for their sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the day.The Acadie A team battled their way to an impressive second-place finish, coming just short against Vanier in a hard-fought final. Meanwhile, the Acadie B team finished strong with a great win in their final consolation game.Fantastic work to all players! ~ Coaches Brown and Ross<h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Track & Field </h2>The Region 2 track & field meet is on June 3rd, and training continues for our athletes. Practices for jumps and throws have been held during lunch recesses, and sprints (100m and 200m) are held on Mondays after school. Middle and long-distance runners train on Tuesdays at lunchtime and Thursdays after school. Athletes and their parents are encouraged to look into the public availability of Caraco Field over the weekend, where athletes can go to train for free. The facility is generally open to the public from 7 am-11 pm, except on statutory holidays. Any training done outside of Acadie practices will further benefit our team next week!-Coaches Benn, Whitmarsh, and Sam<h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Cafeteria Pop-up</h2>FSS will be running a cafeteria pop up on Monday June 8th in the cafeteria. We will be serving drinks, snacks, baked goods (all for $1) and slider sandwiches (for $ 2.50). It is better if students can bring change (loonies) instead of using a debit card so the line moves faster.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" style="text-align: justify;">Grade 8 Graduation Details:</h2>Grad rehearsal: Wednesday, June 24th   8:15-10:15 AMIt is imperative for grade 8 students to be present and on time on the morning of June 24th so they can attend the grad rehearsal which will run from 8:15-10:15 AM. This will ensure that all students know what to expect and what their responsibilities will be on the afternoon of grad. Report cards will be handed out at the end of the grad rehearsal and we ask that you do not schedule any appointments until after this time. Parents picking up students early to prepare for grad are asked to inform the office ahead of time by email or phone call or to send a note with your student. Students with permission to sign out directly after graduation rehearsal will do so in the gym with a designated staff member (TBD).  Grad ceremony: Wednesday, June 24th 4:00-5:30 PM in the Frontenac Secondary School gymStudents will be required to arrive no later than 3:45 PM and will proceed to the designated area as directed in the grad rehearsal. Seating is first come, first served, and at this time we do not restrict families to a certain number of guests. No tickets are required. Please prepare to be in a HOT gym for the duration of the ceremony. The ceremony is typically over by 5:30, but that time can flex from year to year depending on the number of graduates we have.  Grad Cruise: Wednesday, June 24th  (7:30 PM arrival time) 8:00-10:00 PM (cruise) at Crawford's WharfOur grad cruise on the Island Queen will take place from 8:00-10:00 PM and departs from Crawford's Wharf at 1 Brock Street in downtown Kingston. Students must arrive no later than 7:30 PM in order to have attendance done and to board the boat for the 8:00 PM departure.  Please allow extra time for parking as the downtown area is very busy during this time. Permission form and associated cost will be posted on school day in June. Cake is provided by the school on the cruise but there is also a snack bar available on board if students would like to bring cash or debit to purchase additional drinks or snacks.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" style="text-align: justify;">Grade 8 Year End Trip to La Ronde</h2>The Grade 8 end of year trip to La Ronde is fast approaching! 2026 05 14 Community Foundation Grant for Summer Math and Literacy

LDSB Receives $25,000 Grant to Support Elementary Summer Learning

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) has received a $25,000 grant through the Community Foundation for Kingston and Area’s Community Grants Program in support of its Elementary Summer Literacy and Math Program.The three-week program supports Limestone students finishing Senior Kindergarten to Grade 3 by strengthening foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics to help set students up for success in the following school year.Grant funding will be used to purchase literacy and math learning resources and to create family engagement packages. These take-home resources are designed to support learning at home and encourage families to engage in literacy and math activities alongside their students.The LDSB is grateful to the Community Foundation for Kingston and Area for their generous support, helping students across the district access this important summer learning opportunity.

Runners-up were ‘The Factory’ by Catherine Egan, and ‘Finding Harmony’ by Eric Walters.  We met several of our favourite authors, attended workshops hosted by authors/illustrators, and visited the many booths and displays. We even got to get our photos taken while determining, ‘How many books tall am I?’ It was great to have Ms. Milford share such a wonderful day with the students! We want to extend our thanks to Ms. Newell for organizing such an amazing experience, and Mme. We thank parents for helping their student "keep their foot on the gas" and finish strong in their academic engagement and behaviour. There are many special events, team building activities and class trips planned - we encourage all students to engage and enjoy! We have reminded students that the food is available for those who don't have enough food; it is not an alternative to good planning and lunch packing on the student's part. We encourage students to make their plans ahead of time instead of using the phone at school to set up last minute plans with friends. Thanks for your support.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Running Club</h2>Running club has officially started its spring iteration! We will be doing volume runs and intervals, as well as some drillwork, to prepare them for the races. Practices will be held Tuesdays at lunch and Thursdays after school. Students do not have to attend the races to be on the team, all are welcome to come and run whether they are inclined to race or not. For those with a competitive streak, there are two road races coming up that we would love for students to attend. The race distance is just under 3k. We will ensure that students signed up to race are able to run this distance before they compete. The first race was the Bayridge Road Race and the second is the LCVI road race, which will be in the afternoon on Wednesday May 6th. Students who attend practices and have expressed interest will be invited to participate in these races to represent Acadie (keep an eye on School Day)! There were around 80 runners in both the girls and boys senior divisions. Upcoming Family Engagement and Climate Survey

The Limestone District School Board is inviting families to take part in the Family Engagement and Climate Survey. This survey gives families an opportunity to share their experiences with their student’s school and with the school board.The feedback helps us understand what is working well and where we can improve. It also supports schools and school councils in building welcoming, safe, and supportive school communities.The survey includes questions about:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">How schools communicate and share information</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Whether families feel welcome, included, and connected</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">Barriers to taking part in school activities, such as time, childcare, language, accessibility, or cost</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">Safety and bullying, including reporting and follow‑up</li><li value="5" class="editor-listitem">Licensed Before and After School Programs, including questions to help inform future planning</li><li value="6" class="editor-listitem">Some questions ask about family background to help us better understand different experiences across our communities</li></ul>Participation is voluntary and anonymous. A gentle reminder that students need to dress for success (and the weather). We have seen an increase in children accessing the food sharing offerings. We encourage those who need to take food to help themselves in the day. We will be doing volume runs and intervals, as well as some drillwork, to prepare them for the races. Practices will be held Tuesdays at lunch and Thursdays after school. They do not have to attend the races to be on the team, all are welcome to come and run whether they are inclined to race or not. For those with a competitive streak, there are two road races coming up that we would love for students to attend. The race distance is just under 3k. We will ensure that students signed up to race are able to run this distance before they compete. The first race is the Bayridge Road Race on the afternoon of Tuesday April 28th and the second is the LCVI road race, which will be in the afternoon on Wednesday May 6th. Students who attend practices and have expressed interest will be invited to participate in these races to represent Acadie (keep an eye on School Day)! Our cast party on Wednesday April 15th will mark the end of our drama club this year. The English teachers have explained the criteria that students must meet to be selected to attend. Students have been offered ‘expression of interest’ forms to fill in and submit to their English teacher by Thursday, April 23rd. Students in Ms. Milford’s class can hand them in to Ms. Benn or Ms. Newell. The English Department teachers, in conjunction with administrators, will then select which students to bring on the trip. Message from the Director

Dear Families,As we enter the spring season and final third of the school year, we are reminded of this season’s promise of renewal and growth, and the key role schools and families have together in supporting student learning and well-being. This time of <a href="about:blank" class="editor-link">year</a> brings many opportunities for learning both inside and outside of the classroom, along with the return of outdoor extracurricular activities. While this week has been very wet and rainy, the warmer temperatures of spring are upon us.  I would like to take this opportunity to share a few important updates with you:P.A. Day – Friday, April 17A reminder to families that tomorrow, Friday, April 17, is a P.A. Day. There will be no classes for students, and we look forward to welcoming them back to school on Monday.Family Engagement and Climate Survey – Coming in MayIn early May, Limestone will be inviting families to take part in a Family Engagement and Climate Survey. The optional survey is anonymous, and families can choose which questions they want to answer.The survey asks about topics such as feeling connected to school, family involvement, safety and bullying, communication, before- and after-school programming, and how technology like artificial intelligence is used in schools.The feedback shared through this survey helps schools and the school board understand what is working well, what could improve, and what may make it harder for some families to take part. Reviewing and analyzing this information helps support safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environments and supports the board’s obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code. The findings support planning and decision-making that promotes equity, well being, and student success across Limestone schools. An overview of the Student Census 2025 was presented to the Board of Trustees at last night’s board meeting. Students may react in different ways depending on their age, experiences, and how connected they feel to the situation. With time, reassurance, and support from caring adults, these reactions often ease.We encourage families to keep lines of communication open at home, to invite questions, and to offer reassurance as needed.
