Copy of Wolf logo with signIt was wonderful to see so many families out for our September Open House. If you missed it, there are some details shared at our presentation in this newsletter. A reminder: there is always lots of important messages in our newsletters - if your teenager says "nothing" (eye roll) in response to "what happened at school today?" here is the way to keep the conversation moving. Keep on scrolling, you will be rewarded with pictures along the way!

Truth and Reconcilliation Day - September 30th

Thank you to student leader, Kennedy, who represented Acadie in the FSS/Acadie Truth and Reconciliation virtual assembly.  Students learned a bit of the history of Canada's journey in reconciliation and how they as young people can participate.  Talk with your student about what they have learned - they have lots to share! You canwatch the virtual assembly here.

Diner en ville

Friday September 25 all student with permission had the opportunity to attend diner en ville. Adults saw students moving safely on sidewalks and using the cross-walks. Students were reminded again to be certain to return for 12:55 so as not to be late for class, and not to bring food/drinks back to school to reduce mess and allergens. Please continue to review your behaviour and safety expectations as a family.

5 Day Cycle

Have you seen your child's timetable? This is an excellent visual to help with discussion about their school day. Elementary schools run on a 5 day cycle. The days shift when there is a PA day or holiday. Please help your child organize bringing their instrument and appropriate PE gear based on their timetables and the 5 day cycle.

Food Sharing

Thanks to the Kingston Food Sharing Project who keeps our Food Sharing supply full. Food is for students who forgot their lunch, need a little more to get them through the day or who for whatever reason don't have enough food that day for breakfast or lunch. Please talk with your child about the responsible/appropriate use of the Food Sharing offerings.

Instrumental Music

Instruments have been assigned in grade 7 classes. There are shared instruments available in class. If your child wishes their own instrument, please see Mme Lasko's email from September 4. Books for purchase are available via SchoolDay.  Handmedown books are also great as long as the instruments match - please double check.

CLARINET and SAXOPHONE players need reeds, ideally 2 at all times. Please source reeds for your musician (we like the RICO brand best - 2.5) or send them with $2 to purchase a reed from class. Players were set up with a complimentary reed to start off the semester.

Drama Club

Drama Club will be holding meetings every Day 3 during lunch time in room 201. All students are welcome to join, whether or not they have experience in the dramatic arts. Last year, we put on a play for our school and local elementary schools. Depending on participation and interest, we may put on another play this year!  ~ M Sam

Soccer Tournament Recap

Congratulations to all of our soccer teams for their great efforts at this week’s tournaments!

Get ImageThe Girls Competitive Teams earned a Gold Medal Tuesday with a dominating performance, and a Silver Medal Friday, falling just short in a thrilling penalty shootout. Our other ladies team finished their season with a good 1-2 record, narrowly missing the finals.

The Friday Boys Competitive Team finished with a strong 2-1 record, narrowly missing a spot in the finals. Our Tuesday Competitive Team demonstrated a strong commitment to sportsmanship after a tough day on the pitch.

The Boys Recreational Teams represented our school with great sportsmanship, played hard, and had a lot of fun throughout the days.

Thank you to all players and supporters for making it a successful tournament!

City of Kingston

E-scooters are easy to find, but they aren't toys and aren't designed for kids. In Ontario, you must be at least 16 years old to ride wherever e-scooters are permitted.

In Kingston, e-scooters are not currently permitted. The City is developing a Micromobility Regulations Strategy — with updated rules around e-scooters, e-bikes and other lightweight, rideable transportation — to support safe, accessible and sustainable travel around Kingston. The strategy, which considers public engagement feedback and research into best practices, will be presented to Council for consideration later this year.
