Ms Grasse is on leave for a few months - luckily we have retired FSS/Acadie Principal Ms Tyner joining us to fill in during the absence. We welcome Ms Tyner back!
Lots happening at Acadie in October. Follow along with us below.
Sarah AKA Mme Lasko
Indoor shoes needed
The fall weather has created wet and muddy conditions outside. This is a reminder that students need to have a pair of indoor shoes and outdoor shoes. The wearing of muddy and wet boots and shoes creates slippery floor conditions that can affect student and staff safety. Slippers, slides, and fashion shoes are fine to and from classes but proper running shoes need to be worn in PE class. Please reach out to the school if you need help providing shoes for your child. Thank you for discussing appropriate footwear with your child.
5 Day Cycle
Have you seen your child's timetable? This is an excellent visual to help with discussion about their school day. Elementary schools run on a 5 day cycle. The days shift when there is a PA day or holiday. Please help your child organize bringing their instrument and appropriate PE gear based on their timetables and the 5 day cycle.
Food Sharing
Thanks to the Kingston Food Sharing Project who keeps our Food Sharing supply full. Food is for students who forgot their lunch, need a little more to get them through the day or who for whatever reason don't have enough food that day for breakfast or lunch. Please talk with your child about the responsible/appropriate use of the Food Sharing offerings.
Red Maple Reading Program
Sponsorship is posted in School Day in the PRODUCTS tab.
Instrumental Music
CLARINET and SAXOPHONE players need reeds, ideally 2 at all times. Please source reeds for your musician (we like the RICO brand best - 2.5) or send them with $2 to purchase a reed from class. Players were set up with a complimentary reed to start off the semester.
Mme Lasko's classes have their first playing test starting next week - have you heard a practice concert? Prompt your student to play for you.
FSS Coffee House Concert Featuring Acadie Musicians
The Fall Coffee House will take place in the Library Commons on October 21st from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. This open mic style talent show includes individual and small group performances, as well as the larger ensembles and bands.
There are many students from both Acadie and Frontenac involved in this Spooky Showcase. Goblin treats and bone-rattling coffee are available for a small charge. Suggested entrance donation of $2.
X-Country
What a fantastic day for our cross country team! Today, 28 Wolves racers competed at the Regional Meet at Fort Henry, enjoying beautiful sunshine and showing incredible determination, sportsmanship, and school spirit. We are so proud of each and every runner for giving it their all!
Our team had outstanding results, earning 1st place for both our girls’ and boys’ teams!
Softball
Last Friday’s softball tournament was a great success, with many teams competing throughout the day and demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork, and school spirit. Congratulations to all participants for their positive attitudes and effort, and a special congratulations to our tournament champions! We were also fortunate to complete all of our final games before the storm rolled in, making for an exciting and memorable day for everyone involved. Bravo les loups!

City of Kingston
E-scooters are easy to find, but they aren't toys and aren't designed for kids. In Ontario, you must be at least 16 years old to ride wherever e-scooters are permitted.
In Kingston, e-scooters are not currently permitted. The City is developing a Micromobility Regulations Strategy — with updated rules around e-scooters, e-bikes and other lightweight, rideable transportation — to support safe, accessible and sustainable travel around Kingston. The strategy, which considers public engagement feedback and research into best practices, will be presented to Council for consideration later this year.
