Terry Fox Run
Our run this year was a great success and students were positive, supportive and enthusiastic. Thanks to our generous parents, our school was able to surpass our goal of $500. With on-line and in-school donations we raised a total of $707 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Thank you so much to all those who contributed!
Indigenous Language Learning Opportunity
Working with the Indigenous Education Team and dedicated language teachers, we are excited to offer Indigenous language programming through Microsoft Teams for Indigenous students across the LDSB! Students can learn Kanyen'kéha with Tahnee Bennett or Anishinaabemowin with Ashley Nadon in a supportive and interactive online setting. Tahnee and Ashley welcome students at all levels of their language learning journey.
These programs will begin mid-October and take place during the regular school day. If your child is interested in joining, please reach out to Mme Gauthier-Marois (gauthiermaroism@limestone.on.ca) for more information, or to register.
Drama Club
This year we will be putting on a play at Acadie! The play is Poulter Guise by Elizabeth Rapoza, a comedy about middle schoolers investigating mysterious occurrences in their school. Auditions have begun this week and will continue into next week. Rehearsals will likely begin at the end of October/beginning of November.
Grade 7 Music
Music class with our instruments has been very successful during the last few weeks. Every student has learned correct musicians posture, the concept of a musical staff, whole & half notes/rests, and the first 3 notes. Please encourage and support your student in focused practice 4-5 times a week for 10-15 minutes to build muscles, breathing endurance and muscle memory.
Over the next 2 weeks, grade 7s will be playing their first test: #12 Cardiff by the Sea. Prompt your child to play for you! Music help is generally offered once a week at noon. Next week is Tuesday Oct 14. Students who are struggling or would like to improve should attend. Grade 8 expert musicians are invited to be tutors.
If you have not yet purchased a book on school day, please do. Clarinets and Saxophone players need at least 4 reeds for their instruments - these can be purchased online or at a local music store. We have a limited supply at school which can be purchased in a pinch for $2.
