Thankfully, we have been able to get outside for a least a little bit of recess most days in the last 2 weeks. A gentle reminder that students need to dress for success (and the weather). We have seen an increase in children accessing the food sharing offerings. We encourage those who need to take food to help themselves in the day. If your family does not require the support of the food sharing offerings, please ensure your child is bringing a lunch and snack to school to ensure those in need have food to eat while at school :-) Sarah

Running season
Running club is starting its spring iteration with practices starting next week! We will be doing volume runs and intervals, as well as some drillwork, to prepare them for the races. Practices will be held Tuesdays at lunch and Thursdays after school. They do not have to attend the races to be on the team, all are welcome to come and run whether they are inclined to race or not. For those with a competitive streak, there are two road races coming up that we would love for students to attend. The race distance is just under 3k. We will ensure that students signed up to race are able to run this distance before they compete. The first race is the Bayridge Road Race on the afternoon of Tuesday April 28th and the second is the LCVI road race, which will be in the afternoon on Wednesday May 6th. Students who attend practices and have expressed interest will be invited to participate in these races to represent Acadie (keep an eye on School Day)! Students will need to arrange their own transportation to and from both events. ~ Coaches M Sam & Mme Witmarsh
Acadie Play
The Acadie Drama Club wrapped up its final performance of Poulter Guise on Thursday! We are so incredibly proud of our amazing and talented students who organized and performed in our show, as well as grateful for all of the support from Acadie students, friends and families, elementary schools who came to watch, and the Acadie and FSS staff who helped out. Our cast party on Wednesday April 15th will mark the end of our drama club this year. We are keeping our fingers crossed that there will be another opportunity for students to shine next year! ~ M Sam
Forest of Reading / Red Maple Festival
This year’s festival will be held at Toronto’s Harbour Front on Wednesday, May 13th. The English teachers have explained the criteria that students must meet to be selected to attend. Students have been offered ‘expression of interest’ forms to fill in and submit to their English teacher by Thursday, April 23rd. Students in Ms. Milford’s class can hand them in to Ms. Benn or Ms. Newell. The English Department teachers, in conjunction with administrators, will then select which students to bring on the trip. The cost per student will be approximately $80.
Book Sale
The book sale will continue to take place in English classrooms throughout the coming weeks. Books cost $2 each and all proceeds will go towards supporting the trip to the Red Maple Festival in Toronto.
RKY Registration - Grade 7s
Registration for grade 7s to attend RKY June 9-11 is active on school day. This trip is a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy their peers outside the school setting, challenge themselves to do new things and plain have fun! If you have further questions, reach out to Mme Lasko laskos@limestone.on.ca.
* Cost will not inhibit a student from participating, if you need financial assistance, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher or the Acadie office.
Further there is a spot in schoolday “products” for families to offer a donation to support a student in need.
We ask families to please toggle yes or no to the trip invitation sent out on Schoolday so staff can be assured every student has had the opportunity to choose to attend.
👨👩👧 Parent Chaperones Needed!
In order to make this trip successful we will need the support of parent chaperones. Chaperones must hold a current CPIC. If you are interested in chaperoning for all or part of the trip, please begin the process of applying for your CPIC now since it can take a long time to process. Please fill out this volunteer survey if you are interested in chaperoning for RKY:
La Ronde Registration - Grade 8s
Registration is open for the Grade 8 Grad Trip to La Ronde in Montreal. We encourage families to sign up by Friday, April 24th, so that we can finalize our numbers for bussing as soon as possible. Students who hold annual passes to Six Flags are asked to pay the full price online and then email Ms Fitz at fitzgeraldak@limestone.on.ca to receive a refund for the ticket price portion of the trip.
* Cost will not inhibit a student from participating, if you need financial assistance, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher or the Acadie office.
Please toggle yes or no to confirm your family has made a choice and avoid repeat notices being sent for response.
Milkshake Sales
To support our Lego Robotics team in attending a provincial competition in Toronto at the beginning of May, the team is organizing a milkshake sale from Reid’s Dairy to help cover the cost of the trip.
Milkshakes will be available in the cafeteria at lunch for $3 each. The last round of shakes will be sold on Wednesday, April 22.
Available flavours include vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Save the Date for Neurovibes!
What is neurodiversity? Neurodiverse refers to a group, community, or society comprising individuals with a variety of neurological conditions and brain functions, emphasizing that differences like autism, ADHD, and dyslexia are natural variations of the human brain.
If you or someone you love is neurodiverse, and/or you want to learn more, I highly encourage attendance to the FREE Neurovibes conference April 29 5-9PM.
Mental Health Supports
LDSB wishes to highlight the importance of caring for mental health and well-being. Support is available in the community; reaching out to a trusted adult, family member, friend, or support professional can make a meaningful difference when someone is struggling.
