There is A LOT going on next week, we thought we would send you a mini update to help everyone have a happy and successful lead up to the holiday.

Inclement Weather

IMG 7421On inclement weather days, we encourage your child to come to school if it is safe for them to do so.  It is important that when they come to school on these days, that they bring outside gear, PE shoes and clothes, their binders and pencil case, their reading books, and their musical instruments every time.  The schedule may be different, but lots of learning still takes place.

For students who stay home on Inclement Weather days, we ask that they check their Google Classrooms for assignments posted by their teachers.

Please report weather or transportation related absence

All parents/guardians are asked to report their student’s absence regardless of the reason, including during bus cancellations. Often, bused students find alternative ways to school and we want to ensure we know the whereabouts of every student to ensure their safety and well-being. Knowing who is supposed to be at school will allow school office staff to best ensure all students are accounted for. Students are asked to ensure they report to their first period class for attendance.
The reporting tool has two options regarding transportation:

  • Inclement weather (all transportation types and walkers) for any inclement weather days when your student will not be attending school.
  • Transportation (not weather-related) for any non-weather-related transportation reason when your student will not be attending school (e.g., when a bus is cancelled due to a driver shortage, not because they missed the bus)

Thank you for your support and understanding.
If your student is marked absent and the absence hasn’t been reported in advance, the SafeArrival system will attempt to reach the student’s priority contact by telephone to confirm the absence. If you receive a call regarding your student’s absence, you can enter the reason for the absence during this call.

Acadie Students May Enter the School at 8AM

Acadie students may enter the school at 8AM. Students may not be in the FSS wing of the school before 8AM. There is no access to the gym or cafeteria as there is no supervision.

Reveillon

86f6150a 1e5c 45f9 850d 40c7e9dd2c67At Acadie, one of our wonderful traditions is the celebration of Reveillon.   Reveillon is a huge party of dancing, singing and eating which takes place on December 24th and well into the night.  It is celebrated in many French communities. Acadie will celebrate it’s version of this tradition on Friday December 19.   Please check with your student to hear what they have offered to bring for their potluck meal - items can be brought to school in the morning or dropped off by parents before 10:30AM.
