There are 9 more days of school! We have had a great year and there is lots to celebrate! Check out what we have been up to and what's up next! ~ Sarah
RKY
The grade 7 students returned from RKY camp last night having accomplished many challenges - from the rock wall, to trying new food, kayaking and sleeping in a cabin of gigglers! Enjoy the pictures sprinkled through the newsletter.
A HUGE thanks to teacher volunteers and parent chaperones; without their donation of time, and energy, and SLEEP, this trip would not be possible!

Grade 7 Community Music Concert and Celebration - Save the Date!
On Friday June 19th, 8:15am-2:30pm, all Acadie grade 7 students will be exploring our city through the lenses of French, History, and Community, and will be sharing their music skills with family and community members! The day will be divided into three sections; students will share an instrumental music performance for spectators, enjoy a scavenger hunt downtown, and “dîner au CENTRE-ville” (lunch out downtown). This is a wonderful opportunity to apply our French, History and Music learning to authentic activities. We will be travelling to and from Acadie using Kingston Transit - a lesson on how to use the bus will be integrated in our travel.
Skittles/Pride Month
Acadie’s very own Skittles Club is preparing to decorate our halls with some LGBTQIA2S+ representation and educational materials during June, Pride month. Students are also encouraged to attend the Kingston Pride Parade on June 13th at 11:30 am at the Kingston Memorial Centre (303 York Street) to march with LDSB!
Track & Field
The Acadie Track & Field team had a fabulous 2026 season. We took 54 athletes to the region 2 meet, and had 30 athletes advance to district meet last week. Both of our 4x100m relay teams took 1st place in our region - this is something that we are very proud of! Thank you to coaches Benn, Whitmarsh and Sam for their training support and organization!
Grade 8 Music Concert
Acadie’s Grade 8 Music classes were on stage on Tuesday, June 2nd for their end-of-year concert! It was a packed set, with wonderful performances from every class for an audience of over 40 Acadie family members as well as all Grade 7 classes! M. Wiens and M. Mailloux congratulate the Grade 8s once again on their performance and achievements in Music this year, and extend thanks to all families, whether in attendance or not, for the hard work and organization that goes into making our music program possible.
Grade 8 Graduation Details:
Grad rehearsal: Wednesday, June 24th 8:15-10:15 AM
It is imperative for grade 8 students to be present and on time on the morning of June 24th so they can attend the grad rehearsal which will run from 8:15-10:15 AM. This will ensure that all students know what to expect and what their responsibilities will be on the afternoon of grad. Report cards will be handed out at the end of the grad rehearsal and we ask that you do not schedule any appointments until after this time. Parents picking up students early to prepare for grad are asked to inform the office ahead of time by email or phone call or to send a note with your student. Students with permission to sign out directly after graduation rehearsal will do so in the gym with a designated staff member (TBD).
Grad ceremony: Wednesday, June 24th 4:00-5:30 PM in the Frontenac Secondary School gym
Students will be required to arrive no later than 3:45 PM and will proceed to the designated area as directed in the grad rehearsal. Seating is first come, first served, and at this time we do not restrict families to a certain number of guests. No tickets are required. Please prepare to be in a HOT gym for the duration of the ceremony. The ceremony is typically over by 5:30, but that time can flex from year to year depending on the number of graduates we have.
Grad Cruise: Wednesday, June 24th (7:30 PM arrival time) 8:00-10:00 PM (cruise) at Crawford's Wharf
Our grad cruise on the Island Queen will take place from 8:00-10:00 PM and departs from Crawford's Wharf at 1 Brock Street in downtown Kingston. Students must arrive no later than 7:30 PM in order to have attendance done and to board the boat for the 8:00 PM departure. Please allow extra time for parking as the downtown area is very busy during this time. Permission form and associated cost will be posted on school day in June. Cake is provided by the school on the cruise but there is also a snack bar available on board if students would like to bring cash or debit to purchase additional drinks or snacks.
Grade 8 Year End Trip to La Ronde
Students will arrive at school on their regular buses. Upon arrival, they must present their physical OHIP card to their homeroom teacher (photocopies will not be accepted).
Buses will depart the school at 8:30 a.m. and return at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Students should bring a lunch to eat on the bus. Each student will also receive a voucher that includes a meal, drink, and snack. Please note that outside food is not permitted inside the park.
Students are encouraged to bring sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle for the day.
Backpacks are not permitted inside the park, but small drawstring bags or fanny packs are.

Yearbook
If you missed the due date, there are 6 additional copies of the 2026 yearbook for sale on a first come, first served basis. For grade 8s who missed the yearbook last year, there are a few 2025 copies available for $25. See Ms Fitz for either copy. Thank you to head editor Matthew D, Mme Fitz and Mme Chantal for their hard work in getting this year's edition to press!
Frisbee
The A team earned 2nd place and the B team played hard. Everyone had a lot of fun. Thanks to M Brown and M Ross for coaching!

The art room will happily accept donations of any unused art supplies. Pipecleaners, thread, fabric, yarn, glitter, as well as beads, markers, pencil crayons, glue, felt, or any other tools or supplies that could be used for art in any way are happily accepted.
