Diner en ville
Friday September 18, grade 8s will be permitted to attend "Diner en ville", grade 7s will attend September 25. Students, with parent permission, and who have earned the opportunity at school with their behaviour and task completion, may leave school property for lunch. They may bring their lunch and visit one of the local parks or bring money to purchase lunch at a local restaurant/store. Staff will review behaviour and safety expectations, please discuss your family expectations too.
Open House
The Acadie Open House will be held on the week of September 28-October 2nd from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. An alert will be sent early next week to confirm the date. Parents can visit classes and teachers will say hello to families for the first hour and there will be a presentation in the cafeteria 6-6:30. The Open House is an opportunity to see classes, lockers and say hello to teachers. If you wish to have a deeper conversation with teacher about your child, please book an appointment with teachers via email.
Instrumental Music
Instruments have been assigned in grade 7 classes. There are shared instruments avaiable in class. If your child wishes their own instrument, please see Mme Lasko's email from September 4. Books for purchase are available via SchoolDay. Handmedown books are also great as long as the instruments match - please double check.
Drama Club
Drama Club at Acadie will be starting next week, with our first meeting on Monday September 21st. We will be holding meetings every Day 3 during lunch time in room 201. All students are welcome to join, whether or not they have experience in the dramatic arts. Last year, we put on a play for our school and local elementary schools. Depending on participation and interest, we may put on another play this year! ~ M Sam
Skittles Club
Are you interested in learning more about sexual orientation and gender identity? If you answered yes and you also enjoy eating snacks while hanging out with awesome people, then this club is for you! Please join us during lunch in room 201 every Day 2. Soccer Team
Our school soccer teams will be participating in tournaments next Tuesday and Friday. We are excited to see our student-athletes represent our school with teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit! Good luck to all of our players!
Soccer players will receive a notice in School Day with tournament teams, dates, locations and cost. All tournaments run 9-3:00ish. Shin pads are mandatory for all players. Cleats are recommended but not required. Transportation needs to be arranged by families.

X-country Team
Practices have started! Thank you to all who have joined. Students are encouraged to join the running club for a joy of running, to help increase their fitness level, to prepare for fall and winter sports, as well as for the opportunity to run at the annual Regional Cross Country meet. Practices will be held after school on Mondays, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and on Wednesdays at lunch, from 12:00-12:40 p.m. Please note changes in October to Tuesdays, 2:30-3:30 p.m. For most practices we will run in the neighborhood behind Acadie. There are a few tentative meets on the calendar once more information is available communication will be sent out.
Cross Country takes place rain or shine. Students should be prepared to run in wet and muddy conditions. If the route is unsafe or there is a threat of thunderstorms, practice will be canceled. Any cancellations will be communicated via School-Day and in-school announcements. Students should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, and running shoes. For lunch practices, they should bring a change of clothes to wear for their afternoon classes. ~ Ms. Doucet & M Sam
Terry Fox Run
We will hold our annual Terry Fox run on Friday September 25th. We will run/jog a x-country route from Acadie to Auden Park and return. Our fundraising goal is to surpass last year's amount of $714, so please send your child with a toonie or more if you are able. ~ Mme Gauthier-Marois

Acadie students are invited to participate in either or both of the following FSS extracurricular ensembles:
- Level 100 Band — Mondays after school
Designed for developing band players who want to build their skills, confidence and experience playing in an ensemble. - Vocal Ensemble — Tuesdays after school
New for Acadie students this year! Students who enjoy singing are welcome to join our Vocal Ensemble.
Students are welcome to participate in Level 100 Band, Vocal Ensemble, or both.
Our music program also includes a wide range of other ensembles led by staff and supported by student leaders, with many opportunities to rehearse, perform and make music together throughout the year.

Message from School Council - Meeting and Elections September 22nd, 6:00 p.m.
Welcome to Frontenac and Module de l'Acadie! The School Advisory Council (SAC) consists of parents/guardians that gather quarterly to collaborate, participate and contribute to the education of students in our school. Education is a partnership and we invite you to be involved. Our first meeting of the 2026-27 school year will be on Tuesday, Sept. 22nd at 6:00 pm at Frontenac/Acadie in Student Services on the main floor. The focus of our meetings is information sharing and discussion.
SAC attendees usually consist the principal, a staff representative (VP), parent/guardian and community representatives. The meetings are typically an hour in length and we have prioritized in person meetings where possible. Elections are done within the first month of school and will take place at our first meeting. Our conversations usually highlight our student’s achievements, equity and well-being. Meetings are posted on Frontenac and Acadie's website home pages and through our school newsletters. Human Growth and Development Notice
As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8. Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.
Art Donations Requested
The art room will happily accept donations of any unused art supplies. Pipecleaners, thread, fabric, yarn, glitter, as well as beads, markers, pencil crayons, glue, felt, or any other tools or supplies that could be used for art in any way are happily accepted. Please send along with your child to Mme Gauthier-Marois in room 204.
