Posted on 12/04/2018

Module de l’Acadie has been given the opportunity to host Jeremy Dias from the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity. Jeremy will be speaking to our grade 7 and 8’s on Friday December 7th from 8:30-9:30a.m.  Jeremy’s Motivational Address is an assembly-style presentation that educates students about the effects of bullying through a presentation by Jeremy Dias, (City of Ottawa Citizen of the Year; Ontario Youth Medal winner; and Teen Choice Award nominee). Jeremy talks about his experiences facing racism and homophobia in a rural Ontario school, and how he overcame discrimination by setting legal case precedents, eventually starting a not-for-profit organization. This award-winning presentation is a great way to begin the dialogue about diversity in your school and community, and to promote respect, stop bullying, and create positive community culture.  Jeremy will also meet with our Spectrum Club following the presentation.  The presentation connects to the Action Items (pages 22-34) related to the main objectives of the ONTARIO EQUITY ACTION PLAN (see link below): equity plan en.pdf  Please contact Mme Peart should you have any questions about the presentation.  Thank you to our Parent Council for supporting this motivational speaker.
